Kremlin confirms possible visit by Putin's envoy to US

The Kremlin has confirmed the possibility of a visit by a representative of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin to Washington. The visit would involve the Chief of Russia's sovereign wealth fund, Kirill Dmitriev, Russian media report, citing press secretary to the Russian President Dmitry Peskov.
According to Russian sources, Peskov stated that Dmitriev’s visit to Washington is "possible" but did not provide further details.
"We continue our communication with the Americans through various channels. I cannot provide you with anything specific," Peskov said.
The press secretary of the Russian dictator also noted that US President Donald Trump’s plans to travel to Saudi Arabia in May are not related to Putin. He added that there is currently no specific information on the date or location of a possible meeting between Trump and Putin.
Earlier, Western media reported that Kirill Dmitriev, Chief of Russia's sovereign wealth fund, who was appointed last month as Russia's special investment and international economic envoy, is set to visit Washington this week.
CNN, citing sources, stated that Dmitriev will meet with the US President’s Special Envoy for the Middle East and participant in the negotiation process on Russia's war against Ukraine, Steve Witkoff.
Dmitriev himself, commenting on CNN's report, said that such a visit is "possible."
Furthermore, Kirill Dmitriev was part of the Russian delegation for negotiations with the US in Riyadh on February 18, 2025. He has been under Western sanctions since February 2022, including sanctions imposed by the United States.
