Kremlin confirms contacts with US, reporting increased engagement
Russia and the US have contacts through individual departments, which have recently intensified, the Russian propaganda news agency RIA Novosti reports, citing Dmitry Peskov, Russia`s Presidential Press Secretary.

Possible negotiations between Ukraine and Russia
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has previously emphasized that Kyiv needs security guarantees before sitting down at the negotiation table with Russia. Zelenskyy believes the White House has the ability to pressure Russian leader Vladimir Putin into peace.
Ukrainian President also stated that he is open to dialogue with Putin if it is the only option to achieve peace in Ukraine.
After his inauguration, Trump threatened Russia with additional tariffs and sanctions if Moscow refuses to reach a ceasefire agreement soon.
Meanwhile, the Russian opposition political scientist Abbas Gallyamov believes that the US has leverage to force Moscow to come to the negotiating table.
