Putin is ready for negotiations - Political analyst
Russian President Vladimir Putin is ready for negotiations regarding the full-scale war. Today, the occupying country has enough pressure points that the United States could target, the Russian opposition political scientist Abbas Gallyamov says, according to an article for RBC-Ukraine.
As Gallyamov explained, the situation in the Russian economy, on the front lines, and the huge losses already sustained could force the Russian leader to agree to negotiations. This means that the team of the 47th President of the United States, Donald Trump, has the necessary levers of pressure to make Putin back down from his previous conditions. Among these tools are:
- Continuing military aid to Ukraine at the same or even a higher level, which would lead to increased Russian casualties and intensified strikes on Russian territory;
- Collapsing oil prices. The Russian army is an army of mercenaries, fighting not for the homeland or Putin, but for money.
"Trump's general attitude toward Putin is quite positive and loyal. Why would Putin want to quarrel with him given all the current and potential problems? If they clash, Trump could increase arms supplies to Ukraine, lower oil prices, and, to spite Russia, even push Ukraine into NATO," Gallyamov speculates.
Possible negotiations between Russia and Ukraine
Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that Kyiv needs security guarantees before returning to the negotiation table. In particular, the Ukrainian President stated that if Trump wanted to force the Russian dictator into peace, he would succeed.
Furthermore, after his inauguration, Trump addressed Putin and threatened him with additional tariffs and sanctions if Russia did not agree to sign a ceasefire agreement in the near future.
