Vladimir Putin's spokesperson, Dmitry Peskov, claimed that the United States had invited the Russian leader to join the Gaza Peace Board.
"Yes, President Putin has also received an invitation through diplomatic channels to join the Board of Peace. We are currently studying all the details of this proposal and hope to have contacts with the American side to clarify all the nuances," he said.

Donald Trump is seeking to implement his 20-point plan for a large-scale transformation of Gaza, which has been severely affected by two years of war between Israel and Hamas. On Thursday, January 15, he announced the creation of a Board of Peace, but did not disclose its members.
At the same time, Bloomberg reported that since Hamas still controls nearly half of the Gaza Strip and refuses to disarm, the prospects for a durable and prosperous peace remain uncertain.
In addition, the group has yet to return the remains of the last hostage, which is the most critical part of the first phase of Trump's proposal.
Bloomberg also reported that member states of the Peace Council would hold their seats for up to three years, with the possibility of renewal. This restriction would not apply to countries that contribute more than $1 billion in cash during the first year.
On Saturday, January 17, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Argentine President Javier Milei were added to the list of world leaders invited by Donald Trump to join the Gaza Peace Council.
Yesterday, January 18, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said he had received an invitation from Donald Trump to include Hungary in the work of the new Peace Board. According to Hungary's foreign minister, Orbán welcomed the invitation and plans to take part in the Board's activities.
