King Charles III hails Ukraine's 'steadfast determination' on Independence Day

King Charles III and Queen Camilla congratulated the Ukrainian people on Independence Day, publicly expressing their admiration for Ukrainians’ determination and resilience, the British Embassy in Kyiv reports.
“Both my wife and I are so pleased to be able to extend to you and to the people of Ukraine our heartfelt congratulations on the occasion of your Independence Day,” the monarch said.
Charles III said that reflecting on Ukraine’s history, rich culture and unbreakable national spirit, people in the United Kingdom continue to be reminded of the extraordinary resilience of their allies.
The monarch noted that this resilience has once again been demonstrated during the war with Russia.
“Such steadfast determination continues to command profound admiration throughout the United Kingdom and around the world,” Charles III added.
According to the monarch, the longstanding friendship between Ukraine and the United Kingdom, as well as the close ties between their peoples, have always been and remain a source of inspiration for him.

“My wife and I send our sincere and special wishes to you and to all Ukrainians for the possibility of peace, security and prosperity in the year ahead,” the British king concluded.
Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also addressed the Ukrainian people on August 24 to mark Independence Day.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio also issued a statement marking the occasion.
Belarusian dictator Alexander Lukashenko also addressed the Ukrainian people with an Independence Day message.
