Kharkiv under attack: Explosions erupt amid drone attack

Explosions are being heard in Kharkiv as the city comes under attack by Russian Shahed strike drones, according to Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov and Head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration Oleh Syniehubov.
“Explosion in Kharkiv! A massive air attack on the city has begun - enemy combat drones are heading toward Kharkiv. Stay safe!” Terekhov wrote at 1:36 a.m. Kyiv time.
At 1:38 a.m., the mayor reported a second explosion in the city.
“The first strike — preliminarily in the Kyivskyi district,” Terekhov wrote.
At 1:38 a.m., he reported a third explosion.
Oleh Syniehubov warned of the risk of further strikes on Kharkiv and the Kharkiv district, urging residents not to ignore the air raid alert.

According to Terekhov, four explosions had already been heard in the city.
“As a result, a large fire has broken out. There are still enemy combat drones in the air near the city. Stay safe!” he added.

Terekhov reported another explosion in the city.
Night drone attack
During the night of July 21, Russian forces launched a massive kamikaze drone attack on Ukraine using Shahed drones. Air raid alerts were declared across many regions of the country, and air defense systems were actively engaged.
Around 12:20 a.m., the invaders launched MiG-31 fighter jets into the sky.
Soon after, explosions were heard in Kyiv amid the threat of an attack with Kinzhal aeroballistic missiles.
Additionally, Russian forces deployed Tu-95MS strategic bombers, raising the threat of a cruise missile strike.
