A statement was released on behalf of Iran’s leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, but only as text, without video or audio. This suggests that his health condition may be more serious than previously reported, US War Secretary Pete Hegseth said at a press conference, according to Bloomberg.

What Hegseth said

"We know the new so-called, not-so-supreme leader is wounded and likely disfigured," he said.

He added that the US has a plan to defeat, destroy, and disable all of Iran's significant military capabilities at a pace the world has never seen before.

Hegseth highlighted Khamenei’s written statement released the previous day, questioning why it was only text, noting that "Iran has plenty of cameras and plenty of voice recorders." He suggested that Khamenei’s injuries prevent him from appearing publicly.

"He's scared, he's injured, he's on the run, and he lacks legitimacy," the War Secretary added.

He described the situation in the country as chaotic, especially after the death of the father of the current Khamenei, the previous supreme leader.

"It's a mess for them. Who's in charge? Iran may not even know," Hegseth stated.

It is noted that the new Iranian leader has not appeared publicly. There is information that he may have sustained leg injuries.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump suggested that Khamenei could be targeted for elimination and outlined the condition under which such action might be possible.
