Former US Special Envoy Keith Kellogg has announced a visit to Ukraine in the coming weeks, according to Novyny.LIVE.
Responding to a journalist’s question on Wednesday, January 21, Kellogg said that a visit to Ukraine would be possible after a planned trip to Japan.
He said the visit could take place in about a month and a half, adding that his daughter had been there two weeks ago. According to Kellogg, they will travel to Japan first and then to Ukraine.
What is known about Kellogg
Unlike many other officials, Keith Kellogg openly condemned Russia after its attacks on Ukraine. When he visited Kyiv, Russia temporarily halted its attacks.
Kellogg was among the few members of US President Donald Trump’s team who were not afraid to speak directly about Russian aggression. He tried to convey to the American President that it is Russia that does not want the war to end and that pressure should be applied to Moscow.
Earlier, Kellogg said that negotiations to end Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine were approaching the final stages. He noted that the key issues are control over Donbas and the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant.
The former US Special Envoy emphasized that the world is "in the last 10 meters of this conflict." He also expressed confidence that resolving these two issues would allow everything else to "fall into place."
In addition, Kellogg said he believes that Russian leader Vladimir Putin understands he will not be able to win the war against Ukraine. According to the former Special Envoy, for the Russian leader, this "is an unwinnable fight for him, long-term."
