General Keith Kellogg will take over as Special Envoy for Ukraine and Russia, as announced by the newly elected President of the United States, Donald Trump.

According to Trump, Kellogg has "a distinguished military and business career," as well as experience in national security.

"Together, we will secure peace through strength and make America, and the world, safe again!" Trump said.

What is known about Kellogg

Kellogg served in high-ranking positions within the Trump administration from 2017 to 2021. Specifically, he was the National Security Council Chief of Staff and the National Security Advisor to Vice President Mike Pence.

According to media reports, Kellogg proposed his own plan for ending the war in Ukraine. This plan suggests that the United States would only supply weapons to Ukraine if the country agrees to peace talks with Russia. At the same time, the US is prepared to warn Moscow of the consequences of refusing to negotiate, including increasing support for Kyiv.

Trump’s peace plan

Trump has previously stated that he could end the war between Russia and Ukraine in one day. According to media reports, one of the points of his peace plan could involve the transfer of certain Ukrainian territories.

Recently, British news agencies reported a new version of Trump’s plan, which involves creating a buffer zone between the countries, to be protected by European forces.

However, one of Trump’s advisors stated that the return of Crimea to Ukraine is now "unrealistic." This information was later denied by the office of the elected president.
