Magnetic storms in the coming days may lead to worsening well-being for many people. Scientists warn that a powerful geomagnetic storm is approaching. When are magnetic storms expected, and how can you protect your health?

Magnetic storm forecast

According to NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) and other solar observation laboratories, we are facing difficult days:

  • June 20, Friday: in the first half of the day, geomagnetic activity will be moderate (Kp 3–4). In the afternoon, a G2-level storm is expected.
  • June 21, Saturday: a strong storm is forecasted with a peak that will reach Kp 6, G2–G3 level.
  • June 22, Sunday: geomagnetic activity will remain at Kp 5–6, with a gradual decrease starting only in the evening.
  • June 23, Monday: activity will begin to decline; a moderate magnetic storm is expected, Kp 4.

The worst time: from Friday, June 20, to the night of June 22.

The most vulnerable categories to such magnetic storms are people with hypertension, vegetative-vascular dystonia, heart diseases, pregnant women, small children, the elderly, and individuals with heightened anxiety.

What is magnetic storm

Geomagnetic storms occur due to solar flares, during which large streams of charged particles are ejected into space.

When these particles reach Earth's magnetic field, they trigger its disturbance.

According to the international NOAA scale, G2-level storms are considered red-level storms, which can affect the well-being of some people.

How magnetic storms affect human body

Geomagnetic storms are caused by solar flares that create fluctuations in Earth's magnetic field. For humans, this is an invisible but very perceptible disruption to biorhythms.

The most common symptoms:

  • Headache
  • Migraine
  • Dizziness
  • Nausea
  • Blood pressure fluctuations
  • Tinnitus
  • Insomnia at night or daytime sleepiness
  • Increased fatigue
  • Weakness
  • Decreased concentration and productivity
  • Irritability
  • Increased anxiety
  • Panic feelings
  • Aggression
  • Sharp mood swings
  • Mild apathy
  • Palpitations or chest pain, unstable pulse
  • Exacerbation of chronic diseases

How to protect your body during magnetic storms

Experts say it is impossible to avoid the impact of magnetic storms. But there are some effective ways to ease the condition and reduce the negative effects.

Consistent daily routine

Go to bed before 11:00 PM and try to sleep 7–9 hours. Wake up, if possible, at the same time every day. If needed, take a 1–2 hour nap during the day.

Nutrition and hydration

Drink enough water to maintain hydration – 1.5 to 2 liters per day. Avoid excessive coffee and energy drinks, abstain from alcohol, and fatty and unhealthy foods. Choose light and nutritious meals rich in vitamins and minerals.

Physical activity

Avoid intense physical activity on these days. Replace jogging with swimming, and heavy gym workouts with light exercises.

Fresh air

If possible, spend more time outdoors – in parks or forests. Be sure to ventilate your home twice a day.

Emotional stability

Avoid stress, arguments, conflicts, and emotional overload. Support yourself with relaxation practices, like meditation, breathing exercises, or yoga.

Limit news and social media, and put away all screens 1–2 hours before bedtime.

Health monitoring

Pay close attention to your well-being. If you have chronic illnesses, keep necessary medications on hand, and monitor your blood pressure and heart rate.

If your condition worsens, seek medical attention.
