Yesterday in the sky over Ukraine, up to eight jet-powered Shaheds were recorded. These drones are difficult for radar systems to detect, the spokesperson of the Air Force of Ukraine, Yurii Ihnat, states.

"Jet UAVs were recorded yesterday. Up to 8 jet UAVs were recorded from the northern direction. Probably, today such UAVs were also among the usual mock drones, or a strike Shahed UAV with internal combustion engines," Ihnat explained.

According to him, it is precisely because of this, as was already reported, that they are characterized by a sound that differs from the usual "Shahed".

"Basically, on radar it is displayed as a cruise missile by flight parameters, because the speed there can be 500 plus kilometers per hour. Not all means that we use today can intercept such targets," the Air Force spokesperson explained.

As he noted, it is precisely because of this that, as of today, there is a threat of the enemy using these jet-powered drones.

"Of course, there is no mass use of them, there are isolated cases, but yesterday's incident, last night, shows that 8 such UAVs were definitely recorded," Ihnat added.

Russia started using jet-powered Shaheds

Recently, First Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov, on the air of the national telethon, said that the Russian army is already integrating various solutions that will allow Shaheds to bypass Ukrainian interceptor drones.

He noted that soon the occupiers will begin switching to jet-powered drones, and therefore, Ukraine already needs to work on solving this problem.

More details on how Shaheds became smarter and what Russia has built into the Iranian drones – in the RBC-Ukraine article.

According to Fedorov, Ukraine currently has technical solutions for the production of drone interceptors, which help shoot down dozens of enemy targets every night.

Therefore, manufacturers are now working on technologies against jet-powered drones.
