American singer and actor Jared Leto plans to register a trademark under his own name in Russia, according to a Russian state-linked media outlet.
It is known that the relevant documents were filed in March this year.
Under the Jared Leto brand, the actor plans to release clothing, footwear, and headwear.
Additionally, the trademark is intended to cover entertainment services.
This includes music releases, concert activities, stage performances, and film production.
Jared Leto’s position on the war in Ukraine
After the full-scale war began, Jared Leto publicly expressed support for Ukraine and called for peace.
For instance, during one live broadcast, he performed the song “Ah, Odesa”. He has also participated in charitable initiatives aimed at helping Ukrainians.
However, on October 11, 2024, during a concert in Serbia with many Russian attendees, the singer said he “felt a lot of Russian energy” and referred to Russia’s war against Ukraine as “these problems.”
At that time, he also expressed hope that after the war ended, he would be able to perform in Kyiv, Moscow, and Saint Petersburg.
Such statements sparked a wave of criticism from Ukrainians. The Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that Russia has only one “problem”—the very existence of Ukraine.
They also stressed that remarks like these are offensive to Ukrainian soldiers, who pay a high price every day for their country’s freedom.
In addition, last year, Leto posted photos on his social media from the BAFTA ceremony, where he posed alongside Russian actors Yuriy Borisov and Mark Edelstein.
