Japan’s Ministry of Defense has signed a contract to purchase interceptor drones manufactured by SkyFall, according to a statement by Japanese Defense Minister Shinjiro Koizumi.
"Japan’s Ministry of Defense has already signed a contract to purchase interceptor drones from Ukrainian company SkyFall. We are now working to ensure their delivery as quickly as possible," he said.
It should be noted that SkyFall manufactures P1-SUN interceptor drones in various modifications, including a version with an AI module and one with increased flight speed designed to destroy jet-powered drones.
During the press conference, Koizumi also highlighted Ukraine’s experience in developing and rapidly improving defense technologies.
In particular, he pointed to the "rapid feedback loop" that makes it possible to develop drones with new capabilities every two to three weeks.
According to Koizumi, Japan has much to learn from Ukraine in both developing its defense industry and strengthening its industrial base.
He stressed that Japan needs deterrence and response capabilities, and that specific solutions to strengthen them will continue to be studied.
Ukrainian company SkyFall recently unveiled a new middle-range strike attack drone called the Thor Hammer. Depending on the version, the drone can travel between 350 and 600 kilometers.
