Japan is seriously concerned about closer military ties between China and Russia
Tokyo is seriously concerned about the tightening military cooperation between China and Russia in light of Japan's security and the broader region, according to the Chief Cabinet Secretary of Japan, Yoshimasa Hayashi.
"Our country intends to keep a close eye on development in Sino-Russian relations," Yoshimasa Hayashi emphasized.
China-Russia relations
China has increasingly strengthened its ties with Russia following the onset of full-scale invasion in Ukraine. Notably, Beijing has refrained from joining the sanctions imposed by the United States against the Kremlin.
Beijing and Moscow share a mutual interest in challenging US dominance in the global order, as their relations with democratic countries are becoming increasingly tense.
In October, the US Department of Defense stated that despite China's denials, it supplies arms to Russia, including drones, small arms, and equipment.
Meanwhile, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi assured his Ukrainian counterpart, Dmytro Kuleba, that Beijing does not supply lethal weapons to Russia.
