Japan will allocate $6 billion to Ukraine for humanitarian and technical support in 2026, according to a statement by Verkhovna Rada Deputy Speaker Olena Kondratyuk on Facebook.
She spoke about the results of the first official meeting with Japan’s ambassador to Ukraine, Masashi Nakagome, where issues of aid to Ukraine were also discussed.
Kondratyuk emphasized that Kyiv has already received from Tokyo over 2,500 electric generators, more than 65 transformers, 10 generator units, as well as other critically important equipment to support and restore the energy system.
In addition, Japan has allocated around $149 million for projects under Ukraine’s Emergency Recovery Program.
The total amount of financial and humanitarian assistance to Ukraine from Japan has now exceeded $15 billion.
Aid to Ukraine
Denmark is providing an additional €20 million to help Ukraine restore energy facilities after Russia’s massive attacks.
Denmark also delivered used equipment from the Asnæs power plant in Kalundborg. This equipment is highly valuable for Ukraine, as components of older types are sometimes very slow to supply — or are no longer produced at all.
Additionally, on January 19, Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha stated that the country has already received energy assistance from 17 countries.
Specifically, Ukraine has been supplied with generators, mobile boilers, industrial boilers, and uninterruptible power stations to ensure the operation of critical and social infrastructure.
Yesterday, January 20, Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko announced that four more countries will provide Ukraine with energy aid packages, which will include generators.
According to her, new shipments from Azerbaijan, Slovakia, and Czechia will arrive in Ukraine in the coming days. Ireland will send €25 million next week to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund.
