Denmark is additionally allocating 150 million Danish kroner (20 million euros) to help Ukraine restore its energy facilities after massive Russian strikes, according to the Embassy of Denmark in Ukraine.
The embassy noted that the funds will be distributed as follows:
-
80 million Danish kroner (about 10.7 million euros) — to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund, which coordinates the procurement of energy equipment for Ukraine.
-
30 million Danish kroner (about 4.02 million euros) — through UNOPS Ukraine and East Europe (the UN office implementing projects in Ukraine) for equipment to protect energy facilities.
-
40 million Danish kroner (about 5.36 million euros) — through partners that are considered capable of providing emergency assistance to Ukraine as quickly as possible.
"In addition, used equipment from the Asnæs Power Station in Kalundborg was transferred to Ukraine. Such equipment is of great value to Ukraine, as components of older types are sometimes delivered with very long delays or are no longer manufactured at all," the embassy added.
The embassy emphasized that Denmark supports Ukraine’s long-term security and is committed to ensuring that Ukrainian families stay warm throughout the winter, even as the war continues in the country.
Energy assistance to Ukraine
Yesterday, January 20, it became known that four more countries will provide Ukraine with new packages of energy assistance, including Azerbaijan and Slovakia.
Recently, Ukraine’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrii Sybiha also stated that Ukraine has already received energy assistance packages from 17 countries.
