Italy's Meloni on Trump-Zelenskyy talks: Today has been a historic day

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni described the negotiations between US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy as historic, according to Sky News.
"Seeing Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelenskyy talking about peace at the funeral of the Pope of Peace has such a huge meaning. Today has been a historic day," she said.
It is also known that the Prime Minister has already met with President Zelenskyy.
During the meeting, the leaders reaffirmed their support for President Trump's efforts to achieve a just and lasting peace. They emphasized the importance of ensuring Ukraine's future security, sovereignty, and freedom.
Meloni also expressed condolences on behalf of the government to the victims of Russia's recent attacks. She renewed her strong condemnation of such acts and highlighted the urgency of an immediate and unconditional ceasefire. The Italian prime minister also emphasized the need for a clear commitment from Moscow to initiate peace talks.
At the same time, Meloni welcomed Ukraine's full readiness for an immediate ceasefire. She noted that now it is expected that Russia will specifically demonstrate its readiness for peace.
Zelenskyy in the Vatican
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived in the Vatican today for the farewell ceremony for Pope Francis. In addition to Zelenskyy, leaders from many countries gathered in Rome.
During his visit, Zelenskyy has already held talks with several world leaders.
