Cybercriminals have published Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani's personal data on the dark web and are attempting to intimidate his family, the minister said.
According to the Italian diplomat, the attacks were prompted by his clear and principled stance in support of Ukraine and the defense of the freedom of a sovereign state.
Tajani stressed that he would not give in to intimidation by the perpetrators and would continue to defend his country.
"My response is very simple: I will not be intimidated in any way. I will continue working to defend my ministry and Italy, and I will keep strengthening ties and cooperation with our allies so that we can protect ourselves together," he said.
The minister also noted that cyber threats are taken seriously at the Farnesina. On January 1, the ministry established a special "cyber directorate" to protect against attacks by hostile state entities.
"Our choice, my mission has been accomplished: we will continue to defend our security and protect ourselves against cybercriminals. With the conviction that this is the right way to safeguard the Italian people and our country," Tajani emphasized.
Recently, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni called on the European Union to clearly identify its negotiators on Ukraine to avoid chaos and disagreements in the dialogue.
Beyond politics, Rome continues to strengthen Ukraine's defense capabilities.
In particular, the Italian government is preparing a new, 13th military aid package for Ukraine, which may include Aster interceptor missiles for air defense systems.
