President of the United States Donald Trump did not rule out plans to run for a third presidential term to "make America great again," according to his interview with NBC News.
When asked by a journalist whether he sees any scenario under which he could be re-elected president of the United States for a third term, the White House chief said it would be interesting.
"I don’t know. It would be interesting. But wouldn’t it be terrible if I agreed with you, if I gave you the answer that you’re looking for? It would make life so much less exciting," Trump emphasized.
According to him, everything he does, including preparing for a possible third term, is driven by only one reason — "to make America great again."
Is Trump running for a third term?
Earlier, Donald Trump allowed for the possibility of running for a third term, saying he was not sure whether the Constitution prohibits him from doing so.
This is not the first time Trump has publicly raised this issue, leaving room for political speculation and debate about possible exceptions.
At the same time, lawyers stress that without amendments to the United States Constitution, running for a third term is impossible. In the United States, presidential term limits are enshrined in the 22nd Amendment to the Constitution, adopted in 1951.
Recently, former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon also said that Trump would be president in 2028 as well, which, according to him, would constitute a third presidential term.
As Politico writes, allies of the incumbent president have repeatedly expressed the idea of a possible third term despite constitutional restrictions.
