ISW reports restoration of Ukraine's positions in Toretsk: Armed Forces' response
The Armed Forces of Ukraine managed to stabilize the situation in Toretsk. At the same time, the number of Russian attacks is not decreasing compared to the number of assaults, says Anastasia Bobovnikova, spokesperson for the Luhansk operational and tactical group of troops.
Commenting on the information from the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) on the recovery of positions in Toretsk, Bobovnikova says that the Ukrainian Defense Forces have stabilized the situation and are not allowing the Russians to advance.
According to her, Ukrainian infantry is actively engaged in urban battles, they can destroy Russian troops and have stabilized the contact line.
“However, I would like to note that the number of attacks is not decreasing despite the smaller number of assaults. Russia uses both aviation and artillery. And we do not see a decrease in these means,” she adds.
The situation in Toretsk
Recently, ISW stated that the Ukrainian military regained control of the lost positions in Toretsk, despite the ongoing offensive by Russian forces in the area. Geolocation images released on October 29 show that Ukrainian units have regained their positions along Chervonyi Lane in the central part of the city.
On October 11, the head of the Toretsk city military administration, Vasyl Chynchyk, said that about 40-50% of the territory of Toretsk in the Donetsk region is under the control of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Meanwhile, Russian troops are trying to establish full control over the city.
