ISW maps on August 24 - Frontline sitaution
The Ukrainian Armed Forces achieved significant success in the Zaporizhzhia region. Additionally, the Defense Forces are fighting for Klishchiivka and continue their efforts to cross the Dnipro River in the Kherson region, according to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).
The situation in Kharkiv and Luhansk regions
On August 23, Russian Forces continued limited offensive operations along the Kupiansk-Svatove-Kreminna line but did not achieve any confirmed successes. The Ukrainian General Staff reported that Russian Forces conducted unsuccessful offensive actions near Novoiehorivka (16 km southwest of Svatove).
Yaroslav Yakymkin, the Press Officer of the Western Group of Russian Troops, stated that Russian forces continued their advance in the area of Vilshany (13 km northeast of Kupiansk) and captured a Ukrainian strongpoint and two Ukrainian observation posts.
A Russian military blogger claimed that unknown Russian volunteer battalions were conducting an assault near Bilohorivka (12 km south of Kreminna) and semi-encircling Ukrainian forces in the settlement, although ISW does not observe visual confirmation of Russian positions in this area, which corresponds to the threat of encirclement.
Russian sources claimed that Ukrainian forces conducted unsuccessful ground attacks along the Kupiansk-Svatove-Kreminna line on August 23. The Russian Ministry of Defense and Yaroslav Yakymkin asserted that Russian Forces repelled Ukrainian assaults near Synkivka (9 km northeast of Kupiansk), Petropavlivka (6 km east of Kupiansk), Vilshany, Novoiehorivka, and Novoselivske (15 km northwest of Svatove).
Representative of the Russian Ministry of Defense and the Center for Strategic Communications (CZS) Alexander Savchuk stated that units of the CZS of the Russian Federation repelled Ukrainian assaults near Yampolivka (17 km west of Kreminna), Torske (15 km west of Kreminna), Dibrova (6 km southwest of Kreminna), and Serebryansky Forestry area to the south of Kreminna.
Fightings in Donbas
On August 23, Ukrainian Forces continued offensive actions in the vicinity of Bakhmut but did not make any significant progress. The Ukrainian General Staff reported that Ukrainian Forces continued offensive operations to the south of Bakhmut. The Russian Ministry of Defense claimed that units of the Russian Southern Group of Forces repelled Ukrainian attacks near Kurdiumivka (13 km southwest of Bakhmut) and Mayorsk (21 km southwest of Bakhmut).
A well-known Russian military blogger claimed that Ukrainian Forces, supported by armored vehicles, launched an attack near Andriivka (10 km south-southwest of Bakhmut). He asserted that Russian and Ukrainian Forces clashed in the southern part of Klishchiivka (7 km south-southwest of Bakhmut).

It is reported that Ukrainian Forces continued limited offensive operations in the area along the border of the western Donetsk and eastern Zaporizhzhia regions and did not make any confirmed or claimed advances on August 23. Russian military bloggers alleged that Ukrainian Forces conducted unsuccessful attacks near Pryutne (15 km southwest of Velyka Novosilka) and Urozhaine (9 km south of Velyka Novosilka).
The Russian battalion "Vostok," operating in this region, claimed that Ukrainian forces attempted to find a gap in Russian defensive lines near Novodonetske (12 km southeast of Velyka Novosilka).

Geolocation footage published on August 22 showed Ukrainian forces advancing to the southeast of Robotyne (10 km south of Orikhiv) and to the northwest of Verbovyi (18 km southeast of Orikhiv).
Geolocation footage published on August 23 by Ukrainian sources, including Commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Valerii Zaluzhnyi, shows that Ukrainian forces have raised a flag in southern Robotyne, indicating that Russian Forces likely have limited remaining positions in the village.
The Ukrainian General Staff reported unconfirmed Ukrainian successes in the directions of Novodanylivka (5 km south of Orikhiv) and Novopokrivka (13 km southeast of Orikhiv).
Russian military bloggers mostly claimed that battles for control of Robotyne are ongoing and that Russian Forces repelled Ukrainian attacks in the village and its vicinity. Some military bloggers alleged that Russian forces displaced Ukrainian Forces from central to northern Robotyne and that Russian Forces maintained control over the southern part of Robotyne.
Russian "war correspondents" claimed that Ukrainian Forces continue their attempts to cross the Dnipro River in the Kherson region. One of them asserted that Ukrainian Forces are trying to establish a foothold near Oleshky, but the Russian 81st Separate Special Forces Brigade (likely a volunteer formation operating under the command of the "Dnipro" group and recently recruited and supported from occupied Crimea) was defending in this area. Another military blogger complained that Russian Forces were not reacting quickly enough to Ukrainian personnel crossings over the river.
