The Israel Defense Forces continue to adhere to the terms of the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. On Wednesday, February 5, the military fired warning shots at individuals approaching and posing a threat to them, according to the IDF's Telegram channel.

It is reported that in the southern part of the enclave, IDF soldiers identified several suspects approaching them and posing an immediate threat. The soldiers fired warning shots to distance the suspects.

As the suspects continued to advance, the soldiers made additional shots to neutralize the threat.

The Israeli military command once again urged the residents of the Gaza Strip to follow their instructions and avoid approaching the troops deployed in the area.

"The IDF is committed to fully implementing the conditions of the agreement for the return of the hostages. The IDF is prepared for any scenario and will continue to take any necessary actions to thwart any immediate threat to IDF soldiers," the statement reads.

Ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and provocations by Palestinians

Since January 19, a ceasefire agreement and mutual hostage exchange have been in place between Israel and the Palestinian group Hamas.

In the first phase, active hostilities are to cease, followed by several rounds of hostage exchanges. Israel has committed to gradually withdrawing troops from most of the Gaza Strip while maintaining control over a buffer zone to protect its borders.

On February 3, negotiations began for the second phase of the ceasefire in the enclave.

However, despite the ceasefire, sporadic flare-ups of hostilities continue to occur in the region.

Indeed, at the end of January, Israeli airstrikes targeted suspected threats to the IDF.

Israeli military forces also opened fire on Palestinians posing a threat to them in the southern part of the enclave, near the city of Rafah.

Meanwhile, the US announced its intention to deploy troops to the Gaza Strip.
