Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz, his post on X, has declared UN Secretary-General António Guterres as a persona non grata in Israel. He is banned from entering the country.

"Today, I have declared UN Secretary-General António Guterres persona non grata in Israel and banned him from entering the country," he wrote.

According to him, anyone who cannot unequivocally condemn Iran's attack on Israel, as nearly all countries in the world have done, does not deserve to set foot on Israeli soil.

"This is a Secretary-General who has yet to denounce the massacre and sexual atrocities committed by Hamas murderers on October 7, nor has he led any efforts to declare them a terrorist organization. A Secretary-General who gives backing to terrorists, rapists, and murderers from Hamas, Hezbollah, the Houthis, and now Iran - the mothership of global terror - will be remembered as a stain on the history of the UN," the head of the department stated.

Katz added that Israel will continue to protect its citizens and uphold its national dignity - with António Guterres or without him.

What Guterres said

Less than a day ago, UN Secretary-General António Guterres, responding to Iran's strike on Israel, wrote on his Twitter that he is concerned about the escalation of the conflict in Lebanon and called for an immediate ceasefire.

"An all-out war must be avoided in Lebanon at all costs, and the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Lebanon must be respected. I condemn the broadening of the Middle East conflict with escalation after escalation. This must stop," he wrote, reiterating the need for a ceasefire.

Iran's attack on Israel

On the night of October 2, Iran launched a massive attack on Israel. Tehran fired approximately 180 ballistic missiles at the country.

According to Iran's leadership, the attack was in response to the killing of Hassan Nasrallah and Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh. Israel, in turn, emphasized that the Iranian bombardment "will have consequences."

Prior to this, on September 27, the IDF struck the capital of Lebanon - Beirut. The target of their attack was Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, who has been leading the militants for over 30 years.
