Israeli army announces expansion of ground operation to entire Gaza Strip
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) are expanding their ground operation across the entire Gaza Strip, according to IDF spokesperson Daniel Hagari.
Hagari said that Israeli forces are conducting operations against Hamas strongholds, emphasizing the importance of aviation support provided by the Israeli Air Force to ground forces. He noted that airstrikes on Hamas headquarters, weapons production facilities, tunnels, and rocket launch sites are reducing threats to the ground operation.
"Our policy is clear — we will forcefully strike any threat posed against our territory," said the IDF spokesperson.
War in Israel
Hamas militants infiltrated Israel on October 7, engaging in violence against both military and civilian targets. In response, Israel launched Operation Iron Swords, targeting terrorist locations in the Gaza Strip. Israel also halted the supply of electricity and water to the region.
On December 1, Israel resumed military actions in the Gaza Strip after a week-long ceasefire. The IDF claimed that Hamas had violated the terms of the ceasefire. According to Israel's Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, Israel resumed fire after Hamas refused to release hostages, including two children.
