Israel to transfer Patriot systems to Ukraine. Decision to be made very soon - Source
Israel may soon decide to transfer Patriot air defense systems to Ukraine. This depends on whether a full-scale war with Hezbollah in Lebanon begins.
This information was reported by a source in the Israeli Ministry of Defense to RBC-Ukraine.
Last week, Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov and Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant discussed the possibility of transferring several Patriot systems to the United States, which would then be delivered to Ukraine.
"The decision has not been made yet, but it will be made very soon," said the source.
He clarified that the decision will depend on whether a full-scale war breaks out in Lebanon; if not, the systems will be transferred to Ukraine.
Patriot for Ukraine
Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine needs 25 Patriot systems to defend its entire territory from Russian missiles and drones, with an urgent requirement for 7 such systems.
Later, officials in Kyiv mentioned they are aware of surplus air defense systems that could be transferred to Ukraine and are working on it. Germany has committed to transferring several Patriot systems, Romania another one, and the Netherlands, along with an unnamed country, will also provide one.
Today, on June 27, the Financial Times reported negotiations between Ukraine, the US, and Israel regarding the potential transfer of up to 8 Patriot systems, which the Israeli military plans to decommission.
