Israel to become leader in event of military operation against Iran - Trump

US President Donald Trump stated that Israel could lead a potential military operation against Iran if the parties fail to reach an agreement on the nuclear program, according to The Times of Israel.
In response to a question from journalists in the Oval Office about the possibility of using military means against Iran if Tehran refuses to agree to a nuclear deal, US President Donald Trump assured, “If it requires military, we’re going to have military.”
“Israel will obviously be very much involved in that - it’ll be the leader of that,” said the White House chief.
Thus, Trump may have openly threatened an Israeli strike on Iran for the first time, let alone a strike led by the Jewish state.
Trump also added, “Nobody leads us. We do what we want to do.”
He further stated that the US would “absolutely” use military force against Iran if necessary and that he had a specific timeline for how long it would take. According to reports, Trump is giving this process two months.
The US president mentioned that the summit scheduled for Saturday in Oman is "the start" of the process. His Middle East envoy, Steve Witkoff, will represent the US, while Iran will be represented by Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.
Trump said the talks would be direct, and Iran stated that they would be mediated.
“We have a little time, but we don’t have much time because we’re not going to let them have a nuclear weapon,” Trump says. “We’re going to let them thrive. I want them to thrive. I want Iran to be great. The only thing they can’t have is a nuclear weapon. They understand that.”

US-Iran nuclear talks
Recently, US President Donald Trump began threatening Iran with bombings if Tehran refuses to sign a nuclear deal with Washington.
In response, Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei raised the country's military readiness.
Additionally, John Caves, a staff member of the Wisconsin Project on Nuclear Arms Control, explained whether Russia could serve as a mediator between Iran and the US.
