"These forces are composed of various corps and commands and are responsible, on behalf of the Iranian regime’s military, for homeland defense, suppressing threats, and maintaining regime stability," said the IDF.
Specifically, strikes were carried out on:
-
the Alborz corps, which, according to Israeli fighters, "is responsible for protecting several cities in Tehran Province from various threats and preserving regime stability";
-
intelligence and general security police of Iran’s internal security forces.
"These headquarters are significant both militarily and in terms of governance, and striking them harms the military capabilities of the Iranian regime," the IDF added.
War between Israel and Iran
On June 13, as part of the Lion's People operation, the IDF conducted airstrikes on Iranian military and nuclear facilities. During the attack, high-ranking military personnel and specialists working on Iran's nuclear program were killed.
Since then, both sides have been exchanging strikes daily. As noted by Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei "cannot continue to exist."
Also, on the night of June 22, the United States attacked three significant Iranian nuclear facilities located in Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan.
