Israel attacked Hezbollah positions in Lebanon on Saturday, September 21. In response, militants launched rockets at Israel, reports The Times of Israel.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced today that they conducted airstrikes on Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon.

Footage of the fires and heavy smoke has been shared online. The consequences of the attack are currently unknown, and the IDF has not provided further comments on the situation.

In response, Hezbollah militants from Lebanon fired a barrage of rockets into northern Israel. According to the IDF, approximately 25 rockets were launched.

Israeli police reported receiving notifications about rocket landings that caused damage and sparked fires. There are currently no reports of injuries from the attack. The shelling occurred just minutes after Israel's strikes.

Videos shared on social media captured several attempts to intercept the rockets.

What preceded this

It was reported that on September 17, a series of explosions occurred in Lebanon. Later, it was revealed that pagers used by Hezbollah militants had detonated.

The following day, a second wave of explosions was reported in Lebanon. According to media sources, radios and some other devices used by Hezbollah exploded this time. For more details on the explosions in Lebanon and their consequences, see the article by RBC-Ukraine.

It is suspected that Israel may have been behind the attacks; however, Tel Aviv has not officially confirmed this. Media reports suggest that Israel had been planning the pager operation for at least 15 years.

Following this, Israel and Hezbollah exchanged a series of airstrikes.
