Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar arrived in Kyiv on Tuesday, July 22. He has scheduled meetings with Ukrainian officials, according to Israel’s ambassador to Ukraine, Michael Brodsky, and The Times of Israel.

"Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar has arrived in Kyiv on an official visit," Brodsky wrote.

According to Brodsky, Sa'ar is set to meet with Ukrainian leadership and the Jewish community.

At the same time, the ambassador did not disclose details about which specific Ukrainian officials the foreign minister will meet.

An unnamed Ukrainian diplomat told The Times of Israel that Sa'ar is expected to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, and the deputy head of the Ukrainian parliament.

He will also visit the Babyn Yar memorial, where over 33,000 Jews were executed by Nazi forces during World War II.

Visit of Cohen

On February 16, 2023, then Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen visited Kyiv. He now serves as Israel’s Minister of Energy.

During that visit, he relaunched the work of the Israeli embassy in Ukraine, which had been suspended due to the Russian invasion.
