Israel's early warning system is in its final stages - Ambassador
Israel has already provided Ukraine with everything needed to implement an early warning system. Currently, its launch is in the final stages, Ukraine’s Ambassador to Israel, Yevhen Korniychuk, during the Kyiv Jewish Forum reports.
According to Korniychuk, Ukrainian forces are already using part of the Israeli system. He specifically mentioned Israeli-made 3D radars, which can be acquired in large quantities.
The ambassador also shared that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy proposed to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu cooperation in the destruction of Iranian drones.
"We see that our two wars are very interconnected. We have common partners... and common enemies — Iran and its proxies, which the Russian Federation backs. Large stockpiles of Russian weapons, fresh and produced just last year, have been deployed in Lebanon. I wouldn’t be surprised if tomorrow we find North Korean missiles there as part of today’s axis of evil," he explained.
Early warning system
In June 2022, Korniychuk announced Kyiv’s interest in purchasing Israel’s Iron Dome air defense system or similar means to protect civilians from missile attacks. However, then-Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov noted that the Iron Dome is not effective against the ballistic and cruise missiles Russia uses in attacks on Ukraine.
In January 2023, Korniychuk discussed collaboration with Israel on transferring smart threat alert technologies against missiles and drones. The transfer process was already underway at that time, with expectations that the system would soon be operational in Ukraine.
In February, Haaretz reported that Israel could provide early warning systems to Ukraine within six months.
