Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei may have been killed in US and Israeli airstrikes on February 28. He has been cut off from communication, and his fate is unknown, citing The Jerusalem Post, Reuters and NBC News.

Israeli officials told journalists that Khamenei was literally “cut off from contact.” There is no certainty about his fate. In turn, Iranian officials said they would publish a recording with an address from the ayatollah.

According to a preliminary assessment by Israeli officials, Khamenei was injured in the strike. There has been no official confirmation from Israeli, American, or Iranian sources, the article states.

Iranian security forces blocked roads in the area of Tehran where the residences of Khamenei, President Masoud Pezeshkian (who also became another target of the strikes), and the parliament building are located.

One Iranian official assured Reuters that Khamenei is no longer in Tehran and has been moved to a “safe place.” According to sources in Israel, Iran’s Defense Minister Amir Nasirzadeh and the commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), Mohammad Pakpour, were killed in the strikes.

Iran denies that Khamenei is dead. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi told NBC News that the ayatollah is alive. “As far as I know,” Araghchi added.

He acknowledged that two commanders were killed, but claims that absolutely all senior officials of the Iranian regime survived.

Operation in Iran: Key points

Numerous explosions were heard in Iran on the morning of February 28. It later became known that this was a large-scale joint operation involving the United States. President Donald Trump stated that the United States had launched a military campaign in Iran to eliminate threats from the ayatollah regime.

It has already been reliably confirmed that among the targets of today’s Israeli and US strike on Iran were Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, President Masoud Pezeshkian, and other top officials of the country.

During the strikes, dozens of facilities were hit, including the residences of Khamenei and Pezeshkian, the parliament, the intelligence ministry, the defense ministry, nuclear facilities, military bases, and airfields.

In response, Iran launched missiles toward Israeli territory. Tehran also struck US military facilities in Bahrain, Qatar, the UAE, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia. As a result, the latter are now ready to join the United States and Israel in attacking Iran.
