The Israeli Air Force has destroyed Iran’s defense and detection systems at Mehrabad International Airport in Tehran, according to a statement by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).
"During the tenth wave of the Israeli Air Force strikes, guided by IDF intelligence across Tehran, fighter jets targeted infrastructure at the Mehrabad Airport in Tehran," the statement reads.
The strike destroyed defense and detection systems used by the Iranian regime that posed a threat to Israeli Air Force aircraft.
The IDF emphasized that it continues to target the terrorist regime’s infrastructure across Iran.
US and Israeli operation against Iran
On February 28, tensions in the Middle East escalated after a preemptive strike by Israel and the US on Iranian territory. The operation was a response to the final collapse of the nuclear negotiations on February 26 and Tehran’s refusal to make concessions.
The attack involved around 200 Israeli fighter jets, which struck over 500 targets, including air defense sites, missile installations, and government residences in Tehran, Isfahan, and other cities.
As a result of the US and Israeli attack, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei was eliminated.
The IDF carried out a precise strike on the secret underground complex Minzadehei, where a group of Iranian scientists was working on nuclear weapons. The facility, located on the outskirts of Tehran, was partially buried to protect it from air attacks.
In addition, Israeli forces struck the Assembly of Experts building in the Iranian city of Qom, where a new Supreme Leader was to be chosen to replace Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
The Assembly consists of 88 members, but journalists report that far fewer people were in the building at the time of the strike.
