Israel considers further steps against Norway, Ireland, and Spain - CNN
The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs is considering further diplomatic steps against Norway, Ireland, and Spain after they announced their intention to recognize Palestine as a state, according to CNN.
According to a source from the television channel, the considered steps include cancelling visits of officials from these countries to Israel and revoking visas for diplomats from these countries, which would restrict their ability to visit areas of the West Bank under Palestinian Authority control.
Israel is also considering turning to the US to obtain diplomatic support in seeking explanations from Norway, Ireland, and Spain regarding their decisions.
Additionally, the Israeli government may ask the US to try to persuade other countries not to follow the example of the aforementioned states.
Recently, the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution by a majority vote granting Palestine more rights and privileges as a non-member observer state and called on the Security Council to approve Palestine's request to become the 194th member of the UN.
Yesterday, May 22, the governments of Norway, Spain, and Ireland decided to recognize Palestine as a state. In response, Israel recalled its ambassadors from these countries.
