Israel calls war cabinet for third time to discuss response to Iran
Today, April 16, Israel will hold a war cabinet meeting to discuss Iran's response to a massive strike, according to Reuters.
The war cabinet will meet for the third time in three days after Iran's shelling.
Israeli Army Chief of Staff Gertzi Halevi promised that such an Iranian attack on Israeli territory "will be met with a response," but did not provide any details.
At the same time, Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz said that he was "leading a diplomatic attack". The official has sent letters to 32 countries asking them to impose sanctions against Iran's missile program and to follow Washington in recognizing the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as a terrorist group.
The shelling of Israel
On the night of April 13-14, the Iranian forces launched a massive attack on Israel. They used more than 300 drones, ballistic and cruise missiles.
The attack was a response to Israel's strike on the Iranian consulate in Syria. The building was completely destroyed, and one of Iran's high-ranking generals was killed in the attack.
After the attack, Israeli officials are discussing Iran's response. According to journalists, the United States expects Israel to choose one of the less aggressive options, which may include strikes outside Iranian territory.
