The cascade of islands between the left and right banks in the Kherson region plays a crucial role on the Southern front. Russian occupiers are attempting to expand their positions there, according to Natalia Humeniuk, the Head of United Coordinating Press Center of Security and DF of South of Ukraine,

"The cascade of islands between the left and right banks in the Kherson region plays a crucial role on the Southern front. The enemy is trying to deploy their positions there, but we methodically encircle them," she said.

According to Humeniuk, every time one or two enemy boats appear, the Defense Forces wrap them up in a specific "tube" and send them on the course of the "Russian warship."

"The same makeshift flotilla on the river, which they try to develop using civilian vessels confiscated from the local population, is packed up in black bags by our artillerymen every day," she added.

Counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

Since the beginning of summer, the Ukrainian defense forces have been carrying out a successful counteroffensive, registering progress on several fronts.

Notably, Ukrainian forces have managed to liberate a series of settlements in the southeastern part of the country, recently freeing the village of Staromaiorsk from Russian occupation.

Additionally, advances are being made by the Armed Forces of Ukraine north and south of the city of Bakhmut. The defense forces have gained control of dominant heights near the populated area.

As mentioned by the Commander of the Ground Forces of Ukraine, Major General Oleksandr Syrskii, all necessary conditions have been created for the de-occupation of Bakhmut by the end of July.
