Law enforcement officers apprehended an enemy spotter for the Russian missile strikes on the center of Kharkiv conducted by Iskander missiles a month ago. As a result of that attack, two local residents were killed, and dozens were injured, according to the Security Service of Ukraine.

An agent from the Main Intelligence Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation was exposed and captured by the cyber experts of the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU). He directed the aerial attack by the aggressors on Kharkiv on October 6, during which the adversary employed ballistic missiles.

As a result of the enemy's strike, two civilians were killed, including a 10-year-old boy, and dozens of civilians were injured. Several residential buildings in the center of Kharkiv also suffered significant damage, according to the SSU.

The Russian agent's "tasks"

According to the investigation, it was determined that the agent provided electronic target coordinates to the Russians with specific geographical references.

The traitor turned out to be a man who worked as a foreman at a local company specializing in road and bridge construction, as specified by the Security Services. He was recruited by the enemy's Intelligence service remotely through the Telegram messenger.

The suspect, under the guise of work-related trips, documented the locations and movements of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kharkiv region. Subsequently, he transmitted this information to the Intelligence Service of the Russian Federation through his "handler" located in the temporarily occupied areas in eastern Ukraine.

"He turned out to be one of the former leaders of the terrorist organization LPR (Luhansk People's Republic) with the alias Shaman, to whom the SSU had previously notified of suspicion," the publication states.

During the searches at the enemy agent's place, the following items were discovered:

  • 4 mobile phones and 7 SIM cards from various mobile operators containing evidence of correspondence with the aggressor
  • Bank cards through which salaries were received from the Russian Intelligence Service
  • Over 10,000 dollars were obtained through illegal means.

What awaits the enemy spotter

Investigators informed the enemy agent and spotter about the suspicion under Part 2, Art.111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (state treason committed in conditions of martial law).

Currently, the traitor is in custody. The investigation is ongoing. The perpetrator faces potential life imprisonment.
