Irresponsible provocation: Ukraine condemns North Korea's ballistic missile test
Ukraine condemns North Korea's test of an intercontinental ballistic missile. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine calls North Korea's actions an "irresponsible provocation."
“This is yet another irresponsible provocation that undermines peace and stability both on the Korean Peninsula and in the world as a whole,” the ministry noted.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reminded that North Korea has not only supplied Russia with artillery shells and ballistic missiles but has also sent its troops to participate in the war against Ukraine, further destabilizing the situation.
“The test of a missile that reached a record altitude compared to previous launches demonstrates North Korea's further advancement in its missile program. Against this background, the deepening military cooperation between Russia and North Korea is particularly concerning and requires an immediate and decisive response from the international community,” the statement reads.
Ukraine calls on its partners to take immediate action to counter the regimes of Russia and North Korea, from strengthening sanctions to supporting a victory plan.
North Korea’s missile test
On October 31, North Korea tested an intercontinental ballistic missile. According to Japanese military sources, the missile flew for about 86 minutes, marking the longest registered flight of a missile launched by Pyongyang.
According to Japan and South Korea, the missile reached a record altitude of 7,000 kilometers. Analysts believe that such a missile can cover a distance of over 17,000 kilometers, making it capable of reaching targets in Europe and the United States.
