Ireland elects new Prime Minister
Ireland has elected a new Prime Minister. The representative of the country's largest political party, Simon Harris, has assumed the position, reports RTE.
The Parliament of Ireland has voted to appoint Simon Harris, the leader of the Fine Gael party, as the country's next Prime Minister.
Now, the 37-year-old Harris has officially become the youngest head of government in Ireland. It is noted that Harris will face difficult political challenges in the coming months.
General elections are scheduled to take place in Ireland by the end of March 2025. According to polls, Harris's Fine Gael party currently trails behind the Irish republican group Sinn Fein.
On Wednesday, March 20, Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar announced his resignation.
