Iran will stop attacking neighboring countries as long as no strikes are launched from their territory, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said, according to Al Jazeera and Reuters.

"The Iranian interim leadership council approved yesterday that neighbouring countries will no longer be attacked, unless an attack on Iran originates from there," the president said.

Pezeshkian also apologized to neighboring countries for the strikes carried out over the past week.

US operation against Iran and Tehran's response

It should be recalled that on February 28, Israel and the US launched an operation against Iran, which also resulted in the elimination of the country's supreme Islamic leader, Ali Khamenei.

In response, the Iranian military began striking Israel and several Middle Eastern countries, including Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the UAE, Jordan, and Azerbaijan.

A strike was also carried out on a British military base in Cyprus, alarming Europe and prompting preparations for possible military actions.

Tehran claims that the targets of the strikes are US military bases and consulates, but civilian objects were also hit — including a hotel in the UAE and residential areas, likely affected by debris from intercepted missiles and drones.
