Iran has handed Pakistan the text of a new plan for negotiations with the United States. Tehran’s top priority remains ending the war and achieving peace, according to Iran’s state news agency IRNA.
Details of the diplomatic move
According to the agency, Iran delivered the text of its latest negotiation plan to Pakistan on Thursday evening, April 30. Pakistan is acting as a mediator in the dialogue between Tehran and Washington.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry stressed that ending the war and securing lasting peace are its key priorities in relations with the United States. The contents of the plan have not yet been disclosed.
Meetings on conflict settlement
Last Friday, Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi visited Islamabad, where he held key meetings with Pakistan’s Prime Minister, Foreign Minister, and army chief.
On Sunday, April 26, after a trip to Oman, he arrived in Islamabad for a second time and, before departing for Moscow, met with Pakistan’s army chief, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir.
Background
Earlier, Iran had submitted a new proposal to the United States to end the war, suggesting postponing nuclear talks until a later stage.
The core of that document focused on stabilizing the regional situation, while Tehran sought to set aside discussions on its nuclear program until peace is achieved.
According to media reports, the first stage of a potential peace agreement could involve a return to the status quo that existed before the outbreak of hostilities.
Despite previous disagreements and the collapse of the second round of talks, experts say the sides could reach a compromise through a phased approach.
At the same time, US President Donald Trump has said that the United States has already achieved victory over Iran. However, despite reported military successes, concerns over Iran’s nuclear threat remain, and the issue continues to be a key item on Washington’s agenda.
