Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that Tehran does not plan to resume nuclear negotiations with the US, according to Sky News.

“No agreement or arrangement has been made to resume negotiations. Neither any promise has been given, nor any discussion has taken place on this matter,” he told Iranian state television.

A day earlier, US President Donald Trump announced that the US and Iran would resume negotiations next week, following a pause caused by the start of the 12-day war between Israel and Tehran.

At a Thursday briefing, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated that as of now, no negotiations are planned. However, she noted that the US administration remains on a diplomatic path with Iran.

What preceded this

Following Donald Trump’s return to the White House, the US and Iran resumed negotiations on a nuclear deal aimed at preventing Tehran from developing nuclear weapons.

The sixth round of talks was scheduled for June 15. However, in the early hours of June 13, Israel launched strikes on Iran’s military and nuclear facilities, effectively derailing the negotiations.

On the night of June 22, the US joined Israel in attacking three Iranian nuclear sites. Afterward, Trump claimed that Iran’s nuclear program had been destroyed, though media reports and other sources suggested otherwise.

Shortly after, on June 24, the US president announced that Iran and Israel had agreed to a full ceasefire, declaring it the end of the war.

According to the latest reports from CNN, the Trump administration is working on a range of initiatives aimed at bringing Iran back to the negotiating table on its nuclear program. However, Washington remains unwilling to drop its key demand.
