What is known about Shahid Sayyad Shirazi
The vessel belongs to the Shahid Soleimani class — a relatively new type of Iranian missile ship designed for operations in the Persian Gulf.
These ships are equipped with anti-ship missiles and air defense systems and are considered one of the key platforms of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps at sea.

The strike on the corvette took place near Bandar Abbas — Iran’s largest naval hub on the coast of the Strait of Hormuz.
Destruction of the Iranian ship
Today, March 4, it was reported that a US torpedo sank an Iranian vessel in international waters.
Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth stated that a US submarine sank the Iranian warship, which had been feeling "safe in international waters."
He also noted that this was the first sinking of an enemy ship by a torpedo since World War II.
During the tenth wave of Israeli Air Force strikes, fighter jets targeted the infrastructure of Mehrabad International Airport in Tehran.
The strike destroyed defense and detection systems used by the Iranian regime that posed a threat to Israeli Air Force aircraft.
