Iran is unhappy with EU sanctions and denies supplying ballistic missiles to Russia
Iran expressed dissatisfaction with new sanctions imposed by the EU and the UK on Tehran while denying the supply of ballistic missiles to Russia, according to Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ismail Baghaei.
On October 14, the European Union approved sanctions against seven individuals and seven organizations, including Iran Air, for their alleged involvement in supplying ballistic missiles to Russia.
The list also includes Saha Airlines, Mahan Air, and Iranian Deputy Defense Minister Seyed Hamzeh Ghalandari.
Meanwhile, the UK added nine new sanctions to its own sanctions regime against Iran.
Last month, the US, citing intelligence shared with its allies, claimed that Russia had received ballistic missiles from Iran for its war against Ukraine.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson denied the supply of ballistic missiles to Russia.
"Unfortunately, some European countries and the UK have baselessly claimed that Iran has intervened militarily in this conflict, which has been completely refuted," Baghaei said, referring to Russia's war against Ukraine.
Baghaei further said that the imposition of new sanctions by the European Union and the UK against Iranian individuals and organizations allegedly contradicts international law.
Among those sanctioned under the EU's decision were prominent officials of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and the managing directors of Iran Aircraft Manufacturing Industries and the Aerospace Industries Organization. The sanctions include asset freezes and travel bans within the European Union.
