Iran has restricted the passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz, despite signing an agreement with the US, according to Bild and CNN.
Bild reports that warning shots were fired in the area of the strait, and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps issued a radio warning urging ships not to approach the area.
However, there has been no official confirmation of this information yet.
At the same time, Tehran stated that ship passage remains possible, provided a request is submitted in advance. Such requests are approved only if established requirements are met.
Israeli strikes on night of June 19
Today, Israel launched a series of strikes against Lebanon in response to a Hezbollah attack that killed four soldiers, despite a memorandum between the US and Iran calling for a ceasefire on all fronts.
Bild notes that the talks between the US and Iran, scheduled for today in Switzerland, have been postponed. The US government attributed this to logistical challenges, but media outlets attributed it to Tehran’s delay in sending its delegation due to Israel’s operation in Lebanon.
Guarantees from US
CNN, citing a source, reports that the US has informed Iran that Israel will not intensify its attacks in Lebanon.
"Hezbollah violated the ceasefire. Israel has agreed to let it be, which was relayed to the Iranians, and it’s up to Hezbollah to stop," the source replies when asked about US guarantees.
An Israeli source told CNN that the Israeli Prime Minister currently has no plans for any further retaliatory measures against Hezbollah.
On the night of June 18, the US President announced the conclusion of a framework agreement between Washington and Tehran. Although the official signing of the document was scheduled for Friday, the parties reached an agreement earlier and formalized it remotely.
Following this, Trump ordered a complete halt to naval operations in Iranian ports and adjacent waters.
Over the next 60 days, the US and Iran are to draft and agree on a peace agreement. One of the main issues in the future agreement will be the resolution of Iran’s nuclear program.
