Intense fighting is currently ongoing in Pokrovsk and Myrnohrad, but the encirclement previously announced by Russian forces has not occurred, according to Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation.

"In Pokrovsk and Myrnohrad, very heavy fighting is underway, but the encirclement previously announced by the Russians has not happened. Kiriyenko's idea of inviting foreign journalists has failed. The Defense Forces are engaged in very tough battles against a numerically superior enemy," Kovalenko said.

He added that in Kupiansk, Ukrainian forces are eliminating Russian groups in the city, with ongoing operations against the enemy in the Lyman direction and defensive actions in the Zaporizhzhia direction.

Kovalenko emphasized that the frontline situation remains extremely difficult.

"Earlier, the Russians tried to spread news of their successes to the West, but over time, none of these claims have been confirmed, which is another episode of their informational defeats," he added.

Fighting in Pokrovsk and Myrnohrad

Earlier today, Major Andriy Kovalov, spokesperson for the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, told RBC-Ukraine that Ukrainian forces are confidently holding their positions and destroying Russian troops approaching Myrnohrad and within Pokrovsk's urban areas.

The General Staff previously debunked Russian propaganda claims of a supposed encirclement of Pokrovsk.

They noted that Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to hold positions within the Pokrovsk-Myrnohrad agglomeration, though the situation remains tense. Russian units have entered the city, but Ukrainian troops are actively fighting and pushing them back.

Additionally, Russian President Vladimir Putin had ordered unrestricted access for foreign journalists to the Donetsk region, specifically targeting areas allegedly blocked by Ukrainian forces in Pokrovsk, Myrnohrad, and Kupiansk.

Recent reports indicate that the pace of Russian advances in and around Pokrovsk has temporarily slowed, but the enemy continues its attempts to block Ukrainian logistics routes near Myrnohrad.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Russia aims to capture Pokrovsk as quickly as possible to create the illusion of full control over the Donbas.
