Ukraine will respond with long-range strikes to the massive overnight strike by Russian forces on Kyiv and the Kyiv region, said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

"We will definitely respond to this Russian strike, just as we have responded to other Russian strikes — with a fully just and long-range response," the president said.

The head of state also stressed that Ukraine’s long-range strike capabilities will receive even more resources.

Overnight strike on Kyiv

As previously reported, Russia launched a massive combined attack on Kyiv and the Kyiv region overnight. The air raid alert in the capital lasted nearly nine hours. The main target of the strike was the Kyiv region.

Zelenskyy later said that the overnight attack damaged 30 residential buildings, as well as a school, a hospital and a kindergarten. At least 15 people are currently known to have been killed in Kyiv.

The head of state also said the Russian strike was one of the most cynical, calculated and large-scale attacks.

During the overnight attack, Russian forces also struck Brovary district, damaging a KLO fuel depot.

In addition, logistics centers belonging to well-known brands sustained significant damage. Russian forces attacked warehouses belonging to Fora and Yves Rocher.
