'Initiative is on our side': Ukrainian top Gen. Zaluzhnyi talks with his American counterpart Gen. Milley
Today, on August 7, the Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Valerii Zaluzhnyi, held a phone conversation with the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the United States, General Mark Milley, according to Zaluzhnyi's statement on Facebook.
Frontline situation
"I’ve informed him about operational situation at the frontline. The Armed Forces of Ukraine continue to conduct defensive and offensive operations," the statement reads.
According to Zaluzhnyi, the defense of the Ukrainian Armed Forces is currently resilient. Ukrainian military personnel are putting forth maximum effort for this purpose. The enemy is conducting active assault actions on several fronts, but without success. This is particularly related to attempts to divert Ukrainian forces from certain sectors of the front.
"Regarding the offensive. Heavy fighting continues, Ukrainian troops step by step continue to create conditions for advancing. The initiative is on our side." added the Commander-in-Chief.
Needs of the Ukrainian Armed Forces
According to Zaluzhnyi, they also discussed with General Milley the current needs of the Armed Forces in terms of weaponry and ammunition.
"I expressed my gratitude to partners for their help and assistance. We agreed to stay in touch and actively interact in the future," wrote the Commander-in-Chief.
