India commented on the missile strike on Pakistan, stating that their actions were measured and proportionate. The strikes were necessary to deter cross-border terrorism, the Times of India reports.

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri stated that India had taken appropriate measures in response to a potential threat of new attacks from terrorist groups.

According to Misri, intelligence data indicated the likelihood of new attacks that posed a threat to the country's national security.

Foreign Secretary also noted that India exercised its right to respond in order to stop cross-border terrorism and emphasized that the government's actions were carefully considered and did not lead to an escalation of the conflict.

"Thus, compulsion, both to deter and prevent and hence earlier this morning, India exercised its right to respond to deter such more cross-border terrorism... Our actions were measured and non-escalatory, proportionate, and responsible," Misri stated.

Recently, the Ministry of Defense of India announced the launch of the "Operation Sindoor." As part of these military activities, the country is striking terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistani Kashmir. They also said that 9 targets had been struck.

Escalation between India and Pakistan

On April 22, a group of armed men attacked tourists in the city of Pahalgam. As a result of the attack, 25 Indian and one Nepali citizen were killed. The militant group "Kashmir Resistance" claimed responsibility for the assault.

India blamed Pakistan for the attack. However, Islamabad denied these accusations and claimed it was a "local rebellion."
