IAEA sees no sign Russia is preparing to restart Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant – Reuters

There are no signs that Russia is preparing to restart the temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, an IAEA official told Reuters on condition of anonymity.
"Our teams continue to confirm there is no indication at the moment that there will be any active preparations for a restart of the plant now," the IAEA official said.
Russia plans to restart Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant
Recently, The New York Times reported that Russian forces are building power lines in temporarily occupied territories in southeastern Ukraine to connect the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant to their energy grid.
Data collected by Greenpeace, along with satellite imagery, shows new power lines and pylons between the occupied Ukrainian cities of Mariupol and Berdyansk on the Azov Sea coast, which appeared after February 2025.
According to Greenpeace, this proves that Moscow is preparing to restart and operate the Zaporizhzhia plant, which was shut down at the start of Russia's full-scale invasion.
