Trump has stated that he is considering the possibility of increasing arms supplies to Ukraine. At the same time, he emphasized that he still believes in a peaceful resolution to the war, CNN and Clash Report reported.

US President Donald Trump said he does not rule out the option of ramping up military assistance to Ukraine. However, he stressed that he still believes in the possibility of a peaceful settlement for the war with Russia.

"The war in Ukraine is not my war – I’m just trying to help," Trump noted.

The politician emphasized that the US is not stepping back from participating in negotiations between Russia and Ukraine. He also mentioned he has his "red line" in these talks but did not specify what it entails.

"I have a red line in my head on when I’ll stop pushing on Russia-Ukraine. I won’t say what that red line is," Trump stated.

The American leader acknowledged that the diplomatic process is moving forward with difficulty. According to him, the negotiations are complicated by "very big egos" on both sides.

US aid to Ukraine

This would be the first arms sale approved by the Trump administration for Ukraine. Since Trump’s return to the White House, his administration has not provided new military aid to Ukraine.

Previously, The New York Times reported that Trump’s team is not currently discussing further military aid to Ukraine. Meanwhile, the aid packages previously approved by the Joe Biden administration are running out.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine is ready to purchase weapons and air defense systems from the US worth $30–50 billion. In particular, this includes Patriot systems or obtaining a license to produce them. Later, he gave instructions to obtain US consent regarding the Patriots.
